:- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Judy Davis-Fuller -- Mr. Grumley hits another one out of the park! : I still don't think anything can top the Breakthrough Series but this comes awfully close. Finished this book in less than 24 hours. It was just that good that I couldn't put it down! Once again, I felt like I was right there with the characters in the story. Even if you don't think the story line is possible, it is highly probable. Makes you stop and think. The characters are so real that I feel like I actually know them and caught myself rooting them on and cursing the bad guys. Is there going to be a sequel? I hope so because I absolutely love Michael Grumley's writing style. Thank you Michael for another great one! Hopefully there will be another book in the Breakthrough series. I want to meet Dirk and Sally's son! ( Reviewed in the United States on October 1, 2021 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Rob in the Ridge -- Another polished Grimley novel - full of imagery and ideas : I wasn't sure what to expect. I already enjoyed the Breakthrough series - because I just couldn't stop. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 1, 2021 )

- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Sharon -- Excellent Read! : I thoroughly enjoyed the Breakthrough series, and loved The Last Monument. As the second book in this new series, it picked right up where The Last Monument left off. Joe and Angela are back along with a few new characters. I enjoy the science and history in the stories, which leads me to research some things or ideas. I love the characters, not too over the top, except the villians, which of course should be! There is always a bit of humor from the characters as well. Well paced plots, providing some answers along the way. Michael C. Grumley has become my favorite new author and I'm already anxiously awaiting book 3. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2021 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Terry Garrett -- Great as always! : I really enjoyed the Desert of Glass as I have all of your books Michael. The intertwining of the theories, locations and legends were very believable and exciting to read. I love the way you use science and interesting scientific possibilities along with intriguing characters to create such captivating story lines. Keep it coming! - 5.0 out of 5 stars from rabid reader -- Huge fan of all his books : It will come as no surprise that I give this book the five stars I give all of Grumley's works. If you haven't read The Last Monument you should read it first before moving on to the Desert of Glass. The first few chapters were a bit difficult for me to get through...because I'd forgotten a lot of what I had read in The Last Monument. Eventually, I remembered it all and this was a wonderful follow-up! I await his next great book! ( Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2021 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Kindle Customer -- Fascinating!! : I love the incredibility of this book! You include a phenomenon that has captured the minds of three Americans and two Egyptians who are hell bent to solve the connection between the glass spire in Bolivia and the desert of glass. It is survival of the forest in body and mind. Keep writing novels like this and the Breakthrough series and I'll keep reading Mr. Grumley!! ☺ ( Reviewed in the United States on October 3, 2021 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Cacher -- A Great Read, Just Do It! : As with most of his books, real science and history and theories of both comprise a good deal of this book. The story continues, with excellent character development and story line and lots of plot twists. I hesitate to give away too much of the story, but believe the time benefit of reading this book is a great investment you will not regret! ( Reviewed in the United States on October 7, 2021 )
- 4.0 out of 5 stars from ReynoldsHafner -- Entertaining page turner : The Desert of Glass is a fun and entertaining read! I’m so glad I re-read The Last Monument first. It was great to be reunited with Joe and Angela and enjoy another mind-boggling, page-turning adventure with them. Once again, I am overwhelmed with the extent and depth of research Grumley imbues into his books. The mysteries of quantum physics are particularly exciting and awe inspiring.
